Information

Aspergers Victoria is a registered health promotion charity run by volunteers. Our mission is to make a difference to the lives of individuals and families with Aspergers, by providing support, knowledge and skills development, to enhance lives and influence community views.

Peer groups are often the first port of call for new members - a place where you can meet others, listen, learn and share stories about your journey with Aspergers, amongst others who understand. Volunteers with lived experience run all groups. The philosophy of AV peer support groups is to provide a friendly, supportive environment, where everyone can share their life experiences, challenges and insights.

Information

Peer Connection is the only peer support program for people impacted by problem gambling anywhere in the world. It evolved from a group of clients participating in a psycho-educational program who said that they would like to continue supporting each other. The telephone service was piloted and has continued to develop, and is now funded by the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation.

The service is delivered by peer support volunteers who have recovered from the impacts of their own or another person’s gambling problem.

Information

The diversity program works with clients who identify as LBGTQI and offers individualised support and group support. Part of the diversity role is to provide education and training to organisations so they respond well to the needs of people who identify as LBGTQI. The program provides a safe place where individual stories can be heard and celebrated. Often feeling isolated, it can be useful to reach out and talk with someone who will not judge, rather empower through listening and sharing experiences.
